Permissions required on Android

Always required

These permissions are required for Spamdog to perform its basic functions:

  1. Allow Spamdog to send notifications: Spamdog sends you notifications to let you know when a malicious message sender has been identified. Spamdog may occasionally send you notifications to give you tips on how to stay safe and to inform you about available promotions.

  2. Share your phone number with Spamdog: When you choose to report a phone number, SMS or email address Spamdog will also share your phone number (if you have provided one during signing up) with Whatspam Company and upload it to its secure servers in order to improve and provide a better customer service experience.

  3. Allow Spamdog to access your contacts: Spamdog detects if the number calling is in your phonebook or unknown, and keep the blacklist of top spammers on Spamdog servers up to date. This information is not shared with third parties.

Required only for Calls features

These permissions are required for Spamdog to protect you from call spam:

  1. Display over other apps: Required to display the Spamdog Caller ID.

  2. Set Spamdog as your default caller ID & spam app: Required to block calls and identify callers.

  3. Allow Spamdog to access your phone call logs: Spamdog uses the call log to enable you to blacklist or report phone numbers to WhatSpam Company. Your full call log is always safe and kept private.

  4. Allow Spamdog to make and manage phone calls: Required to use caller ID and to block calls on older Android devices.

Required only for filtering Messages

These permissions are required for Spamdog to protect you from malicious texts:

  1. Allow Spamdog to access your SMS logs: Spamdog uses the SMS log to enable you to blacklist or report phone numbers to WhatSpam Company. Your full SMS log is always safe and kept private.
    Spamdog accesses read SMS data to enable you to identify the sender of the message and to detect if the message contains spam or malicious content. This data is not shared with third parties.

  2. Set Spamdog as your default caller ID & spam app: Required to block calls and identify callers.
